Brothers Rob and Ed Fawcett had the idea of transforming some of their private woodland into unique self-catering holiday accommodation and approached eco lodge designer Simon Spence to help turn their vision into reality.
Simon was tasked with creating a unique holiday experience that would make the most of the remote woodland setting, whilst offering the very best in luxury living - hence the innovative use of stilts to offer far-reaching forest views and the added indulgence of hot tubs and saunas.
The North York Moors National Park Authority granted planning permission in May 2012 and building began the following year. The lodges have been built and equipped to the highest possible standards and sustainable timber has been used throughout. Alternative energy is provided via a central biomass boiler that fuels underfloor heating and hot water in each lodge.
